Did You Know? Dave & Buster’s Could Be Coming to Tri-Cities, WA
If you’ve been saying Tri-Cities needs more indoor entertainment options, this one might catch your attention.
Dave & Buster’s may be coming to Kennewick.
According to a recent report from the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business, Dave & Buster’s has filed a formal application for a change of use at 1321 Columbia Center Blvd. in Kennewick, inside the former Joann and Sears spaces at Columbia Center mall. Public comment on the proposal is open through May 5, and the proposed venue would be more than 29,000 square feet with an estimated $6.85 million in demolition and remodeling work. As of the report, building permits had not yet been filed.
That means it’s not open yet, and it’s not a done deal.
But it is very much the kind of update locals are paying attention to.
Why This Is Kind of a Big Deal for Tri-Cities
For a lot of people here, the reaction is probably the same:
“Wait… really?”
Because if this moves forward, it would add a new option for:
date nights
group hangouts
casual nights out
sports watching
arcade-style fun without leaving town
And for people relocating to Tri-Cities, this is the kind of update that adds to the bigger picture.
Not because Dave & Buster’s changes everything.
But because it’s one more sign that Tri-Cities keeps growing, adding amenities, and expanding what people can do locally.
That matters.
Especially for people who still assume Tri-Cities is just:
quiet suburbs
river access
wineries
and not much else
That picture has been changing.
What We Know Right Now
Here’s the short version:
Dave & Buster’s filed a formal application for a change of use
The location would be inside the former Joann + Sears retail space
It would be at Columbia Center mall in Kennewick
The proposed space is 29,000+ square feet
Estimated demo/remodel cost is $6.85 million
Public comment is open through May 5
No building permits had been filed yet at the time of reporting
So for now, this is best framed as:
planned / proposed but not confirmed yet
That distinction matters. Watch my video about it here
But the fact that it’s being proposed at Columbia Center in Kennewick is definitely one of those local updates worth paying attention to.
It’s fun, it’s current, and it says something about where Tri-Cities is headed.
